The Bible (Scripture) tells us, “For God loved the world in this way: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him” (John 3:16-17).

God loves you and desires to have a relationship with you. The following verses in Scripture tell us of our need for a Savior and how we can receive the gift of salvation—forgiveness, eternal life and a new life in Christ.

The gift of salvation is the Gospel, the good news, that Jesus died for us and gave His life so that we could be forgiven and set free.

For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.  (Romans 3:23)

For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.  (Romans 6:23)

Because God shows His love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. (Romans 5:8)

Because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.  (Romans 10:9-10)

For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith – and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God – not by works, so that no one can boast.  (Ephesians 2:8-9)

The following is a prayer you can use to pray and receive the gift of salvation. Pray from your heart and respond to the incredible gift of salvation by telling God that you need Him and that you want to receive Jesus in your life as your personal savior.

Prayer of Salvation

God, I need you. I want to have a relationship with you. I believe that Jesus is Lord and He gave His life so that I could be forgiven and set free. I confess that I have sinned and I don’t have the power to save myself. I need you. Forgive me of my sins and come into my life. I give my heart and life to you. I receive your gift of salvation, a new life in Christ, eternal life and a forever relationship with you that can never be broken. Cleanse me and make me whole. Fill me with your Spirit and help me walk with you.  In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
