ABIDE Prayer: God’s Power

The purpose of ABIDE is to seek God through prayer, rely on the Spirit as we gather together, and pray with unity and purpose. ABIDE prayers are Scripture-led and Spirit-focused prayers.

As God’s sons and daughters, we need to remember that our Father is all-powerful and He gives us His power through the Holy Spirit. We can experience hope, peace, strength and joy because our God is all-powerful and His Spirit lives in us!

Prayers of Celebration

Let’s begin ABIDE with prayers celebrating and remembering what Jesus Christ did at the Cross and how our lives are forever changed because of the Cross.

“For the word of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but it is the power of God to us who are being saved.”  (1 Corinthians 1:18)

Prayer:  Lord, we thank you and celebrate that you _________________________ (fill in the blank with what the Lord did at the Cross and how it forever changed our lives).

Prayers of Thanksgiving for God’s Power

“Oh, Lord God! You yourself made the heavens and earth by your great power and with your outstretched arm.  Nothing is too difficult for you!” (Jeremiah 32:17)

Question:  Where do you see God’s power at work in your life? In your family? Church? Community?

Prayer:  God, thank you for your power at work ______________________ (fill in the blank with where you see God’s power at work in you, your family, church, community).

Prayers for God’s Power

“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come on you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”  (Matthew 1:8)

Question: Where do you need the Spirit’s power in your life? What are you attempting to do in your strength instead of asking the Spirit to help you? Where do we need the Spirit’s power released in our families, church, community and nation?

Prayer:  Holy Spirit, we need you and your power to be released in _____________________________ (fill in the blank with areas in your life that you need the Spirit’s power AND ask for the Spirit’s power to be released in your family, church, community and nation).

Closing Prayer:  Lord, we worship you as King of Kings and LORD of LORDS. You are all-powerful and you’ve poured out your Spirit in us! Thank you for the incredible gift of your Spirit. Help us and teach us to walk by the Spirit and rely on the Spirit’s power within us. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
