ABIDE Prayer: God is Loving!

The purpose of ABIDE is to seek God through prayer, rely on the Spirit as we gather together, and pray with unity and purpose. ABIDE prayers are Scripture-led and Spirit-focused prayers.

God reveals Himself to us through his love.

“God’s love was revealed among us in this way: God sent his one and only Son into the world so that we might live through him” (1 John 4:9).

God’s love for us is proven through the gift of His Son.

Jesus came to earth and died on the cross for our sins so that we could know the love of God through a personal relationship with Him. We are loved and pursed with the abundant, faithful love of our Father.

“I will make known the LORD’s faithful love and the LORD’s praiseworthy acts, because of all the LORD has done for us – even the many good things he has done for the house of Israel, which he did for them based on his compassion and the abundance of his faithful love” (Isaiah 63:7).

Prayers of Praise

God, we praise you and your many praiseworthy acts throughout the ages.  We praise you for _____________ (fill in the blank with one of God’s praiseworthy acts that is found in Scripture).

Prayers of Testimonies

God, I want to tell others today that you made your faithful love known to me when you _____________ (fill in the blank with something God did in your life that revealed His compassion and abundant love to you).

Prayers for Our Hearts

God help us to love others through our words and actions, but let it start in our hearts.  God, I confess that I can be _____________ and ask that you help me to receive more of your love and then give more of your love to the people you put in my life.

Prayers for Other’s Hearts

We all know people who don’t know that God is compassionate and that He loves them abundantly. Scripture tell us, “Dear friends, if God loved us in this way, we also must love one another. No one has ever seen God.  If we love one another, God remains in us and his love is made complete in us” (1 John 4:11). God does a work in us and through us as we love Him and love others.  Let’s pray for God’s love to work in and through us as we pray for those who do not know His love for them.

God, help _____________ (fill in the blank with the first name of someone who does not know personally that God loves them) to know and receive the truth of your faithful and abundant love for them.

Closing Prayer

God, thank you for loving us unconditionally, abundantly and faithfully.  Help us to know your love more deeply and to love others more deeply.  Teach us to love one another so that the world may see and know you! In Jesus’ name, Amen.
