Here is a fun Family Devotional to accompany the movie Frozen 2

In the movie Frozen 2, there are many excellent themes to discuss with your children. Watch this movie together and then use the tools below to have a short devotional.

“Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.” Hebrews 11:1

In the song The Next Right Thing, Anna is having some big feelings of loneliness, sadness, and even despair. She is not sure how to move forward but realizes that all she has to do is the next right thing. She talks about how a voice inside her is guiding her to take one step at a time even though she does not know what the whole picture holds.

As believers, we know who that voice is for us. The Holy Spirit is living inside us and guiding us, we just need to have faith in Him. We are going to have hard times and they come with big emotions just like Anna’s. It can be hard to know what to do or who to turn to in those moments, but God gives us the Holy Spirit inside us and direct access to Him through prayer. Often times, God does not give us the whole picture or the whole path in front of us. He works through the Holy Spirit to tell us the next step or He will instruct us to follow His Word by doing what’s right. Anna could not see that Elsa would survive, that Olaf would come back, or that Arendelle would be saved, but she had faith that doing the right thing would prevail.

She trusted the voice inside her to get her through her pain and to help her have faith to do the next right thing. Similarly, when we follow God’s leadership, we do not need to have all the answers about the future or the end game. We have to trust that God knows the entire picture, that He is in control, and that following Him is always the best plan for our lives.

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understand. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.” Proverbs 3:5-6

Discussion Questions:

1. When is it hardest to trust that God is in control?

2. Has there been a time when you felt all alone like Anna?

3. What do you do when you have those feelings?

4. Why is trusting God, having faith, so hard?
